Abstract: 

Professor Leung will explain his recent work on relationships among geometric quantization, deformation quantization, Berezin-Toeplitz quantization and brane quantization.

Biography

Professor Leung had his undergraduate studies in The Chinese University of Hong Kong during 1983-1986. He then went on to obtain a master's degree from the University of California, San Diego in 1987 and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993. Following this, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Courant Institute, New York University, before joining the University of Minnesota in 1994. Since 2004, he serves as a professor in the Department of Mathematics and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Professor Leung’s research interests include Calabi-Yau manifolds, Gromov-Witten invariants, mirror symmetry, Witten-Morse theory, quantization, Rozansky-Witten invariants, hyperkähler geometry, special holomorphic geometry, and ADE bundles over complex surfaces. In 2010, he was awarded the Chern Award at the 5th International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians (ICCM), and was elected as a fellow of the American Mathematical Society in 2013.
